SA Blog Schedule Update

This fellow is NOT helping me write this blog post. Every time I stop petting him, he complains. Loudly.

We need another blog schedule update because I’m scaling down to two posts a week, instead of three. Mondays tend to be the craziest day for me, so I’m cutting that one. You’re still going to get blog posts from us every week. But there are other areas of SA that need attention more than the blog at the moment.

Weekly Schedule

We will post two times per week: Wednesday and Saturday.

Posts from Me on Wednesdays

On Wednesdays, I'll share Storyteller Academy member and instructor stories and advice, and I'll occasionally share from my own experience.

For those of you who don't know me, I didn't know Arree until I took his class last year. I can tell you from personal experience that he rewards hard work and engagement. (In fact, if you want to learn more about both of us, you can read about our journeys in my first post for this blog.) I paid the extra money to be in his mentored critique group in Spring of 2017, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. (I'm still working with that critique group, and I wrote a post about how critique groups can lead to success too!) By the end of that term, on top of making and revising my first picture book dummy, Arree had offered me a job and talked me into attending my first big SCBWI conference in Los Angeles. We're both active members of SCBWI. I edit the newsletter for SCBWI Nevada, and Arree presents at conferences. If you read the blog posts that I linked to, you'll see that SCBWI has played its part in both of our stories.

And Yours!

If you're a member with a success story you'd be willing to share, please email me at myrna@storytelleracademy.com to start a conversation. Your success doesn't have to be something like getting a book contract or an agent. It can be getting a compliment from an editor or an agent or winning a contest. Success can be finding joy in your work. It can be learning something new. While book deals are extremely exciting, there are other stories that might be more helpful and relatable to the majority of our readers.

Posts from Arree on Saturday

Saturday posts will focus mostly on creative process and the craft of storytelling. We'll share YouTube videos of Arree (and possibly other instructors) teaching methods that work for them.

We'll also share YouTube videos of Arree teaching us how to draw, and hopefully, we'll branch out from drawing. Eventually, my hope is to add some of our other art instructors in on Saturday posts. Who's excited about the instructors we've added for 2019?

So, that's our schedule. I hope to see you here in the comments, especially when your fellow students share their experiences.

Questions or Topic Suggestions

If you have a question or would like to learn about a specific topic, if there’s something you’d like to read about, please let us know in the comments. Or you can email me with suggestions. Thanks for reading!

Storyteller Academy Blog Schedule

This blog has seen sporadic bursts of glory and extended periods of neglect in its lifetime. In short, it hasn't ranked high on the list of priorities. But happily that has changed, and I'm posting a schedule now so that readers will know what they can expect to see in the future.

Weekly Schedule:

We will post three times per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Expect to see posts from Arree on Monday.

Monday posts will focus mostly on creative process and the craft of storytelling. We'll share YouTube videos of Arree (and possibly other instructors) teaching methods that work for them.

Wednesday posts will be mine.

On Wednesdays, I'll share Storyteller Academy member stories and advice, and I'll occasionally share from my own experience.

Saturday posts will feature art tips.

We'll start out with sharing YouTube videos of Arree teaching us how to draw, and hopefully, we'll branch out from drawing. Eventually, my hope is to add some of our other art instructors in on Saturday posts. Who's excited about the instructors we've added for 2019?
